Breathtaking! Jackie Evancho Sings With Her Older Brother - I See The Light

You must have been listening to the wrong video. I challenge you to find a 12 year old that sounds as greats as she does especially with an opera style voice. She has a lot of volume, the recording or her mic is off. I put the video on bigger speakers and she was fine. Look her up you tube videos. I first saw her in America's Got Talent when she was 9 or 10. Her brother sounds like a kid. She sounds like and adult.

Those who had trouble understanding Must have problems with the computer. Her voice came through crystal clear on my IMAC.

Great looking kids! All scrubbed and dressed for the event. Not in dirty jeans with holes and no obscenities. What's this world coming to. Loved the vocals as I do all of Jackie's works.

I hope she doesn't wind up like Charlotte Church!

My goodness, what a talented family...just wait till the other two children get a little older. Jackie is amazing and now her brother is in the mix. Wow, their great together.

Jackie has no volume. She's got a tiny voice that's boring in no time. I hope she grows a voice.

And may a I say her dress is so beautiful just like her voice. God bless both of you, Sincerely, Denise Feyrer, Houston, Texas.

The song is pretty and they both have beautiful voices but I didn't like them together at all. There was no match there.

Thank you for sharing. I followed it up by listening to Jackie singing 'The Prayer'. I will sleep peacefully tonight!

honestly Michael, I see your point... I'm so amazed and almost to tears when I hear her tone...the beauty..natural beauty of her tone, combined with her style and delivery, for her young age is other worldly, to me. And with her God given voice, I recognize and appreciate that above and beyond her practice and training... I'm still blown away..I just smile when I watch and listen. Her sick range strikes me as well, lol... as a guy who's guitar teacher/choir teacher needed a tenor so she asked me to try out... when we were done, she was smiling so wide because my range was ridiculous, she commented.. (this was in 1981 as a sophomore :) anyway, even still, to your point about a person's tone in speaking needing to somewhat match their singing voice, i disagree to a degree...I have seen and heard countless singers whose speaking voice would shock us as to how different they sound when they sing. But yes, I do agree that it's rare and a head scratcher haha. But man, its so beautiful :)

You can hear her talk a little at the end of this clip:

Jerry Textor, you have a point when you mention she's "hitting...correct pitches...with beautiful tone. I'll admit she's seems not to strain in her singing, which is one of the reasons I have some hope. Her tone is just so remarkable, ESPECIALLY at her age, and therefore so unusual, I worry for her, and probably will till she's 18-19. If she still has all her vocal "weapons" by then, I'll relax. You know, because so many people care what I think. ;-)

@David, I've never heard her speak. We all, with the rarest of exceptions, speak with our natural voice (without affectation or characaturization). Voice pedagogue Van Christy observed that, fundamentally, "singing is an extension of the speaking voice." So I might like to hear her speak some before I assume her tone is NATURAL. I'm not arguing it's not pretty, it's just so... weird (best word I can find, more negative than I mean) for a girl her apparent age. If she sounds like a 30-year-old when she speaks (tonally, not in speech mannerisms or language usage), I'll assume all is well. If not, someone's playing a dangerous game of vocal Russian Roulette with her.
