A Brother's Last Wish - A $500 Tip for Pizza

  • 2013-01-05T16:52:01

This was a two minute video. The video was about honoring the last wishes of a deceased family member not a witnessing primer. We don't know what was said before or after. Why must some Christians feel the importance of pointing out every sin someone makes or that the video didn't reach their "Christian" standards? Do you think the waitress will be more inclined to hear about Jesus after reading some of the comments made about her here? I wouldn't think so. Frankly, I love seeing people get together to do good as there is way too much bad news promoted. Aaron Collin's last wishes were honored in a lovely way.

they raised the money in order to grant his wish to give what he never had, and so you know they continue to do so.. each time they rasie 500.00 they have pizza and tip the server 500.00 in memory of that brother who wanted to just give what he never had.

Your response is to judge the waitress?? I've listened a few times and still didn't hear her blaspheming "God's name". Her speaking the phrase OMG is not blasphemy in and of itself unless it is used with that intent (which I would not assume in this instance) maybe you should check out http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/blasphemy PS: "Preaching the gospel to her" would not have been appropriate at that time either! :)

A house divided against itself cannot stand. I think Jesus would be sad to see the quarreling going on with these comments. I know I am. :(

He isn't Promoting himself. God may Bless whomever he chooses through whomever he wants. He loves his children and God knew what he was doing when he instilled this idea into Aaron's mind. And we don't know if there's a God fearing Man/Woman struggling with life or with financial needs. God is blessing his children and thats all that matters.

I am a childrens pastor, and this is one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen. No Christ wasnt mentioned as a couple of folks have mentioned....But I see him all in this video. I am reminded of the story of Mary and Martha, when Martha was busy with preparing the food, and Mary sat at Jesus feet and listened. Martha was upset that her sister wasnt helping her....key word here is HER. Jesus said she has chosen the better things. Sometimes the most powerful witness is what we do, not what we say. I say what this family has done is honored thier brother to help in the most simplist of ways. I would dare say that this waitress has seen more of Jesus than some of us will ever see...

I hate religion, as do those who don't know the Lord (at least in name). Love and kindness was spread here. Love IS Jesus' name after all, His very Spirit. Religion/religiousness has done so much harm that rarely can you weave in some scripture without it SOUNDING religious and therefore tainting the gift TO the one being given to. Maybe the brother's dying wish even came with the instruction, "Please don't ADD anything to the gift (like witnessing), just give it freely." What is important is the reaching out and the person being touched, along with a man's last wish being fulfilled.

I agree with Sung Kim & Vicky. It is wonderful to be generous. The Lord tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive, however when you are given such an opportunity to sow the gospel into someones life with words, take it. You would have had her undivided attention. You could have shared gently with her that using God's name in a blasphemous way was offensive and that God's Word, The Bible, says in Exodus 20:7 that we shouldn't and why. Invitation to church or a small group or singles, etc.... could surely have been done. I know that when I reflect on my days that I've spent and that are behind me I'm not always pleased at how I served my King. First and foremost we are called to be "Ambassadors for Christ", 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. We who are believers in Jesus Christ, "who confess him before men", are Temples of God, the Holy Spirit. I am prompted by Him often to do things and sometimes I make the choice to not serve Him at every prompting. That certainly is a choice that God designed us with, in giving us a free will. I say all that, to say this. We aren't always going to get it right and we'll certainly have time to reflect on our choices for the day when we are in prayer or lying in our beds at night. One thing I do know for a certainty is that God knows "the thoughts and the intents of our heart" and only He is able to make right what I may have thoughtlessly left out. We are carriers of His presence and as such we should take every opportunity to operate in the "ministry of reconciliation". Be encouraged and blessed and "glorify God in your body". :0) Amen & amen.

I agree with you, Vicky and I wrote so in the post below. Thanks for mentioning this. When others are too pc to and want to feel warm and fuzzy, the truth is that it's all about the gospel of Jesus Christ and nothing else. That's what saves....not $500 tips. It would have been nice if they showed them sharing the gospel is all.

I'm sorry but you are all picking on Vicky for expressing her opinion and I agree with her. This video (while nice and generous) does not mention Christ, does not in anyway show witnessing, and is laden with the young lady blashpheming God's name. I agree with you Vicky. I'm glad someone has the courage to stick up for Jesus.

I mean "Our."

It's too bad she blasphemed God's name in response, I hope they preached the gospel to her.

Are job is not to save the country, but seek and save that which is lost. In other words, spread the gospel so souls are saved.

GOD IS LOVE! We are always to walk in understanding of one another. We are all learning about God at different stages, and walking this Journey. As long as we are here on earth we will be challenged by love, to see if we can walk in it(challenged! Yes, even through fellow believers). So even when we don't agree with someone else's opinion. We are only here to lift each other up in Humility and Understanding. Two wrongs can never make it right. This verse is a good guideline: 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto ALL men, apt to teach, patient. 2 Timothy 2:24. King James Version (KJV).
