here is a translation of one of the pieces from this "I am the Abbot of gluttony and my assembly is with my drinking brothers and my sect belongs to the order of dice players Going there after vespers, he loses his clothes to me and thus naked he lifts up a great cry, to arms! To Arms! what have you done so infamously! and here is another "There stood a maiden in a red robe. when one touched it the robe would rustle. eia. There stood a maiden like a little rose her face and her mouth bloomed. And lastly here is a chorus praising goddesses. Hail to thee, beauty, costly pearl, hail to thee, ornament of maidenhood, virgin high beloved. Hail to thee, light of the world, hail to thee rose of the world Blanziflor and Helena. Voluptuous Venus.

uhm, Carl Orff found some of this stuff from a bunch of monks called the Golliards. They were dedicated to drunken orgies, de-flowering young maidens, and all kinds of sins of the flesh. I have a translation of the work around here somewhere. I sat by my pastor at the time when I saw this and as I read the translation I was majorly embarrassed!

Please... call the police for the next flash mob. I am tired of contrived "orchestras" and "choirs" suddenly appearing in malls opening their mouths to lip sync music in perfect balance in a cavernous mall. Only idiots, non-musicians, people looking for the next American Idiot, and people who think anything on God tube must be Christian so I will like a piece about cruel fate because they have no freaking idea what Carmina Burana is about but it showed up in their in box and they do not want to admit they do not know what the piece means or they are easily entertained because "look, people come out of nowhere to sing and play, George! They are good George, we must clap and forward to our other friends." Sorry, to offend, but please pick up a book... Steinbeck if you do not get the reference and tell your friends, please stop it. Before even the idiots realize people who love classical music are idiots because we liked other idiots being idiots with out realizing we were saying more about ourselves being idiots than we realized because we saw it posted somewhere.

The music was great but they needed a better photographer as it was too choppy and I felt I missed a lot.

Just watched a clip on Youtube on the famous horse Seabiscuit and for the middle part they used Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Probably many more uses and traction for this work.

As much as I love this piece and have sung it before, it surprised me to find it in GodTube, listed as "inspirational" since the lyrics and the intention of the writer was to curse God. These lyrics were find in the prison cell where he died, an ex-monk, who wrote his last curses on the wall of his cell. Look up the translation and you'll see. I liked the performance. Well done. But inspirational? Not so much.
