Opera Singer Jonathan Antoine Performs 'How Great Thou Art'
The powerful tenor voice of famous English opera singer, Jonathan Antoine, is enough to move even the most unwavering of hearts. The former ‘Britain's Got Talent’ contestant showcased his musical talent in this performance of the popular Christian hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art.’
Classically trained English tenor, Jonathan Antoine, rose to prominence after his appearance on the sixth season of ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ Appearing as one half of musical duo, ‘Jonathan and Charlotte,’ he and his partner sang their way up to a second place victory in the 2012 TV talent competition, catching the eye of show judge, Simon Cowell, and earning themselves an astounding $1.4 million recording contract.
Following the duo’s signing, the two released two studio albums together before being signed to two separate solo recording deals, thus splitting the duo apart. Since then Jonathan has recorded 4 solo albums, including his most recent, a Christmas album including Christian inspired songs such as ‘How Great Thou Art.’
‘How Great Thou Art’ is a popular Christian Hymn based off of a traditional Swedish poem written by Carl Boberg, and dates all the way back to 1885. The song became popular in the 1940s and 50s after being covered by a number of christian artists, and was even voted the United Kingdom’s favorite hymn by the BBC television series, ‘Songs of Praise.’ A survey for ‘Christianity Today’ even voted the hymn the second favorite Christian hymn, behind ‘Amazing Grace.’
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
"There is none like to the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heaven in your help, and in his excellency on the sky." Psalm 86:9-10
