An Israeli startup brings back to life a 2,000 years lost tradition of eating Kosher locust!

2,000 years ago, on the banks of the Jordan river, lived John the Baptist and ate locust with honey.


Locust are going all the way back to Egypt as the 8th plague, believed to be manna from heaven the Hebrews ate in the desert, recognized as the only Kosher insect on Leviticus and were the food of John the Baptist.

This ancient tradition was lost about 2,000 years ago and now, an Israeli startup called Hargol FoodTech (Hargol is one of the names of the Kosher locusts mentioned on Leviticus), became the the world's first commercial locust farm and the 2,000 years lost tradition is coming back to life.
Hargol's farms it are located in Northern Israel. Providing employment in rural Israel and can feed the world with a healthier protein under the brand "Biblical Protein".
