After 40 Years Apart, Couple Finds Each Other Again
There is nothing sweeter than a love story. In this video after 40 years apart, a couple finds each other again.
This clip is what the movies are made of and I would not be surprised if they made a film after this couple. Jeanne Gustavson shares about her “chronic regret” from not marrying the love of her life due to pressures to end things in the 70s since they were an interracial couple. Jeanne shows a yearbook from where she had a college sweetheart named Stephen Watts. They were in German class together and fell in love, however, her mother did not approve and she broke up with Stephen.
Jeanne decided to track Stephen down and he was in a nursing home. He was divorced with no kids. He was homeless and had two strokes, but she said he is still the wonderful man that she knew. Jeanne says all the feelings came rushing back. Jeanne moved him from the nursing home to her own. She is his caretaker now. The man says, “I always loved you” as tears fell from his eyes. These two probably thought that they would never have another opportunity to see each other again.
This story reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Even though racism stood in the way of their life together, their love never ended. God’s love for us is eternal. Through Jesus, nothing can separate us from the love of God. We can be confident that He will never leave us or abandon us.
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

A Prayer for Victory over Sinful Thoughts - Your Daily Prayer - July 26
Victory over sinful thoughts starts with dependence upon God to stay free from enslaving sin. It’s a life lived with a surrendered mouth and heart before God. Winning requires us to remember our Rock, who rescues us and gives us a firm standing place, and our Redeemer, who rescues us from total loss.
