The Voice Finalist Performs Christian Hit ‘Gratitude’ By Brandon Lake
One musician sang a track praising the Lord during his performance on a popular television program.
Gospel music and other songs about the Lord are not often featured prominently on shows like America’s Got Talent, American Idol and The Voice. Instead, most contestants on those shows opt for more mainstream tunes with much more secular messages.
However, one young man on The Voice went against the grain and performed a song about the Lord, with lyrics showering Him with honor, glory and praise. Bodie, a member of Blake Shelton’s Team in 2022, performed Brandon Lake’s “Gratitude.”
In the clip posted on YouTube, Bodie begins by singing the song’s lyrics on a darkened stage, with guitarists playing and sitting on stools in front of him on either side.
It’s clear that the young man has a ton of talent as he sings the song's first verse, which is about not being able to praise and thank the Lord adequately.
As Bodie reaches the song’s simple but lovely chorus, the camera shows a whole cadre of people on stage, singing along with him. As the background singers perform, they extend their arms upward, moving them in a synchronized and rhythmic motion.
“So I throw up my hands
And praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah”
Around the 1:30-minute mark of the clip, Bodie walks away from the microphone stand and moves toward the center of the stage. The background singers then become his background dance of sorts. They can be seen walking back and forth behind him putting their hands up in praise.
At the conclusion of the young man’s performance, the studio audience bursts out in a round of applause and shouts of appreciation. Several of the judges even give Bodie a standing ovation.
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no fickleness, neither shadow of turning.”
