Musicians Around The Country Play 10-Year-Old’s Classical Composition

One composer, who is not even old enough to drive, already has musicians around the country performing her work.

Olive, a 10-year-old girl who lives in Pennsylvania, loves music and has even written her own piece of classical music. However, she is a bit bashful and didn’t think much of her piece, which caused her to put her work to the side.

The young composer stated she was not 100 percent confident in herself or her equipment.

“I didn’t play it myself ‘cause I felt like, on my violin, it sucked,” Olive said.

But that did not stop Olive’s mother from taking the ball and running with it. Olive’s mom posted a video online and asked if anyone would play her daughter’s work.

“I thought maybe it would be cool to get a few people to play it and see what it sounds like,” Olive’s mother said.

Musicians across the country answered the mother's plea in a way neither Olive nor her mother saw coming. Videos began populating online of people playing the 10-year-old’s piece.

As the clip posted to YouTube points out, musicians performed Olive’s song using many different instruments. Musicians performed the song on violins, guitars, flutes, keyboards, pianos and harps. Even entire orchestras played the young girl’s song.

Olive’s mother was totally shocked by the overwhelming response to her simple request.

“I still feel like, ‘Pinch me, is this real?’” Olive’s mother said

Wow! To be that young and already composing music is incredible!

This clip is a powerful reminder of the good that can come from social media. It’s not all hateful, snarky and angry comments concerning the day's news. People can still genuinely surprise us, even online!

Psalm 40:3 “He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: numbers have seen it with fear, and put their faith in the Lord.”

One of the best times of the year can also be one of the most difficult. Harvest décor leads into Christmas bells and lights. We fill the calendar slots with parties and events. This can create a low-level hum of anxiety if the upcoming family get-togethers feel like a risky walk through a minefield.
