Ben Fuller | 'Who I Am' (acoustic)
Christian singer-songwriter Ben Fuller stopped by the CCM Café in Nashville and gave us this incredible acoustic performance of his debut single ‘Who I Am.’
Before he begins playing, Ben speaks directly to the camera and explains the song's origin. As he tells it, the song “Who I Am” came from God to help Ben in his walk in the Christian faith.
“I wrote it with David Spencer and I’ll never forget the way that the Spirit fell on the room,” Ben says in the clip. “As a new believer, it has been really tough, and it’s been really hard to trust and actually believe in this whole thing and God knew that I would need an anthem. God knew that I would need a declaration.”
After sharing a bit about his walk with God, Ben shares what he hopes is accomplished with the song “Who I Am.”
“And so my prayer is that this song becomes your anthem and your declaration,” Ben said.
The beautifully written song begins as someone looks at themselves and finds that they do not like the person looking back at them. This person is down and discouraged and turns to the Lord for help.
The song goes on and asks the Lord for help during life's many troubles and trials.
“In every trial, lift me higher
Through the fire, hold me tighter
Remind me again that I was made for more”
Ben’s song is an excellent reminder that despite our failures, mistakes, falls and trials, in those times when we feel like no one cares, we still matter to God. Christ died for you and for me.
Like the song says, Christ literally gave up everything, dying on the cross so that we could have everything.
Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God, he is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”
