11-Year-Old Sings Chilling Cover Of ‘The Sound Of Silence’
A child used her stunning, God-given musical ability to sing a beloved classic from the 1960s.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, in their illustrious career together, produced a slew of memorable, classic songs that are still in heavy rotation today. However, despite all their work, arguably, their most well-known track is the iconic “The Sound of Silence.”
The song, about loneliness slowly creeping into one’s life, has been a popular choice for covers. From shows like America’s Got Talent, The Voice and American Idol to videos posted on YouTube, dozens of performers have opted to perform the Simon and Garfunkel classic.
One little girl, 11-year-old Jadyn Rylee, tried her hand at “The Sound of Silence.” The child does a terrific job singing the song’s beautiful but eerie lyrics.
Viewers will witness Jadyn’s confidence in her voice grow in the video. In the early stages of the song and video, Jadyn sings in a very measured and calm way, hitting all the notes but not really adding much feeling or emotion to the words.
But, nearly halfway through the video, at approximately the 1:45-minute mark of the clip, things change dramatically. She gets much louder and begins moving her voice up and down. She really makes the song her own!
Many others enjoyed the young girl’s rendition of the Simon and Garfunkel song.
“Jadyn has such a heartfelt song that she did an amazing job on at such a young age. What a gift! May her voice take her far,” one person wrote.
“To perform that song like this little girl did is to have the voice of an Angel beautifully performed,” a second person added.
“As good as she is at when singing this, I want to hear her sing this song when her voice matures….Going to be amazing,” a third YouTube user commented.
1 Chronicles 16:23 “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; show forth from day to day his salvation.”
