Johnny Cash And John Denver Sing 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'
“Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze”
Almost everyone knows these nostalgic lyrics. The words paint a picture of a simpler time where back roads and Mama’s homemade dishes were all we needed.
“Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads”
Nowadays, our world seems to always be in a hurry. Everyone moves from one event to the next without taking time to pause and reflect on their surroundings. There’s something about open fields and dirt roads that allow us to stop and truly take in the beauty that God has created.
This rare video was recorded in 1978 and, even though the quality isn’t the greatest, you can still hear these two legends belt out the iconic words. The world truly lost celebrated talent when John Denver and Johnny Cash passed away. Their voices have no match in this day and age, so it is so refreshing to take it back and listen to these guys like in the old days. This is just the dose of nostalgia that I needed today. What about you? What is your favorite song from these two artists?
