In the final episode of the season and series on deconstructing distortions, we will take a look at 4 common Christian sayings and how they may be doing more harm than good. Often based on scriptural principles and well-meaning intentions, comments of encouragement or moral evaluations seem to create a feeling of invalidation and shame to those receiving them.
To help us navigate the delivery and maintain our intention, this episode seeks to re-establish gospel conversations with an understanding of grace, self-reflection, and empathy. We will deconstruct statements like: “Love the sinner, hate the sin” and God will work things for your good” by looking back to scripture and discussing the many simple ways we can better communicate the truth of God’s Word in love. Let’s move from simple cliches to gospel conversations.
