How do I make peace when God doesn't answer my prayers the way I think He should?

A few months ago, I prayed for something I thought was good. It had to do with one of my sons, and I prayed good and long and hard about this for him. I was incredibly specific too. I covered every single thing that could happen, asking the Lord for a specific outcome for him, and walked into the event full of faith in the God who can. 

I wasn't prepared for Him to say no to every single request that day. The fact is that He did the exact opposite of what I'd asked for...
