A Prayer for True Joy at Christmas by Gina L. Smith
Christmas lights are beginning to glow—on rooftops, around trees, in windows—quiet reminders that joy has come. Yet for many, this season doesn’t automatically feel joyful. In today's episode, we explore this very real human experience, God sent light. Not a distraction or a seasonal escape, but a person. Jesus stepped into the darkness of our world—and into the dark places of our lives—bringing a joy that is not fragile, forced, or fake. Joy is not something we manufacture; joy is a person. Joy is Jesus.
Reference: John 1:5
Prayer: Father, thank you for stepping into our darkness to bring everlasting joy. Thank you that your presence is light, unchanging, unfading, unstoppable. Help me not to chase temporary happiness, but to cling to you, my joy and my hope. Amen.

Christlike welcome of others is what Scripture calls us to do, not because we must as a checklist obligation, but because doing so reflects the heart of our Savior who lovingly bids us to come to Him despite our brokenness and sin.
