Grace for Every Kind of Day
Your Nightly Prayer
by Amanda Idleman
TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart." - Psalm 73:26
SOMETHING TO PONDER
Whether the day is full or hard, God’s strength never runs out for you.
This verse resonates deeply in my soul because it is so honest; it gets to the heart of the human experience. We are broken, prone to failure, and hopeless on our own, but with God, we have supernatural strength that we so desperately need every day of our lives. I am so thankful for God’s grace!
The reality of being human is that no matter how hard we try to do things right, we often still fail. It’s so easy for our shortsighted hearts to get worried, anxious, and discouraged. When things feel overwhelming, anger usually clouds our judgment. Long days that lead to exhaustion hold us back from being the people we want to be. Jealousy and greed lead us to manipulate others to achieve our life goals. Pride gets in the way of our seeing the help or forgiveness we need.
Thankfully, our failure is not the end of the story. With Jesus, we have access to an endless well of grace and mercy. He is strong enough to help us repent or change our ways. He is wise enough to guide us back to the way of the righteous after taking a detour. He is good enough to love us even though we are sinful creatures. There is no day too bad for God’s redeeming power to change. No loss felt outside of his view. His strength is always available for those who believe. We can be encouraged that, though we fail, God is our strength and our portion!
YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER
Father,
We are so thankful for your strength at work in our lives. Without you, we are prone to failure. We are weak and shortsighted. We exhaust easily and blow up quickly. The truth is, we need you! We need your gracious and powerful strength. Be our portion. Redeem our failures and let your love cover our wrongs. Let us embrace your grace for every kind of day. We love you.
Amen.
THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON
1. What failures are you holding onto that you need to release to Jesus' loving hands? Ask His grace to cover your sins today.
2. How has God given you supernatural strength in the past? Give him praise for the ways he has been faithful to provide in your story.
3. Remember, there is nothing you have to do alone. Invite God to be a part of your days. Allow him to be your strength through the good and the bad.
