A Prayer to Relax Because God Is Leading You
By Alisha Headley
Bible Reading: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7

I tend to overanalyze everything. Because of this, I don’t always have room to relax, and it leads to more days of worry than relaxation and peace.
I’m walking through a season right now where there is something that is beyond my control, and I’m trying to relax with whatever the outcome may be. This season has taught me a valuable lesson that I can relax because God is leading me, even if I am unaware of it. Many of us wake up and randomly go about our days and try to sprinkle God into the mix of our plans. But if we stop and treasure Jesus, and sincerely walk in His ways over our own, He’ll lead us with tender care and a watchful eye. It is in this dependence on Him, and not our situation, that peace will flood our soul.
Today’s scripture verse promises us this. We won’t have to worry, and instead, we can bring everything we need to God with a heart posture of gratitude. It’s bringing it all to Him without worry that will give us peace which will far exceed anything we are trying to understand about our situation. God pays so much attention to us with loving detail and it’s knowing that that will continually bring rest to our souls. God is the Good Shepherd who is leading us even when we are unaware so we can rest assured that He knows what He is doing. Nothing will bring you more rest than knowing God is leading us and He knows what He is doing. Let’s allow Him today to guard our hearts and minds giving us rest and peace. We don’t have to overanalyze every step anymore; we get to relax because God is always leading us.
Let’s Pray:
Dear Lord,
Thank you so much for the peace and relaxation you so freely offer us. Thank you that we don’t have to worry in this life. We truly don’t. You offer us a worry-free life by praying about everything, bringing it all to you and laying it down at the foot of the cross. Remind us in our worry filled moments of today’s Scripture. Thank you for the peace you give us and for protecting our hearts and minds in the process. Thank you for always leading us. Forgive us for the times that we are more dependent on ourselves than on you. Thank you for today’s reminder that I don’t have to analyze and think about every detail of every day and circumstance, because you have every detail in the palm of your hand. You are leading us in every detail. Forgive us for the times that we are not sensitive to your leading. Thank you that we can take a deep breath, not worry about anything, and relax in your peace. There is no form of peace offered in this world, than can even compare with the peace you give us. We trust that Your Spirit is guarding and guiding us. Thank you that we can relax because you are leading us. We love you Lord and thank you for being our Good Shepherd who cares for us deeply.
In your name we pray, Jesus, amen.

As we begin a brand-new year, I want to help you slow down and listen for God’s invitation in your life. In this episode, we kick off our One Word 2026 series — a simple, prayerful way to reflect on where you’ve been and discern how God may be inviting you to grow in the year ahead.
I introduce the heart behind choosing a spiritual “one word,” not as a goal to achieve, but as a posture to receive. We explore two of the six words I’ll be offering this month — confidence and diligence — and look at how Scripture invites us to grow, not by relying on our own strength, but by trusting God’s faithfulness over time.
