Formed in early 2011, I Am They has shared the stage with acclaimed recording artists such as: Matthew West, Chris August, Todd Agnew, Jason Castro, Bebo Norman, Brandon Heath and Big Daddy Weave, in addition to winning first place in the 2011 Partner and Play program at Spirit West Coast. Their debut album, The Prelude EP (2011), provides the listener with a collage of seven original songs, each displaying what the band's intent and goal is through their music: worship. At first glance - although the band's moniker merely appears to be an example of poor grammar - it was actually inspired by John 17 and created with the intent to adopt on a personal, individual level. As Jesus prays in this chapter, He consistently refers to His disciples as "they". It is important to each band member to be the "they" that Jesus referred to.

‘Gratitude’ by I Am They - Christian Music Videos
Thanking someone for holding the door or waving at the driver who let you merge safely into traffic are simple ways to acknowledge their kind act. But how do you even start to properly thank someone for eliminating a debt that you could have never, ever paid?
Christ was born into the world and made the ultimate sacrifice. He laid down his life, dying on the cross for all humanity. As John 3:16 makes clear, “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Nothing we could ever say or do will ever come close to the amount of praise that Christ deserves for his act of love. The lyrics from the song “Gratitude” by the group I Am They so eloquently express this idea.
In the video for the song, the musicians sing the tune in a beautiful, quaint little church. Right from the start, the singers admit that anything they could ever do or say will never be enough to thank the Lord for his sacrifice all those years ago.
So, knowing that whatever they do give will still be wholly inadequate, they decide to give the only thing they can – their praise, their “hallelujah.”
“I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah”
Like the lyrics to the song, the video is simple, straightforward and beautifully shot. The simplicity of the video helps to put the focus on the words of the song.
Give a listen to this song. It’s one that could be listened to several times on repeat and its message and truth would never dampen!
Hebrews 13:15 “By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
