Elephant PAINTS Self-Portrait - UNBELIEVABLE!

This is actually very sad. God tube- Please remove this video! This oversight is understandable because it is difficult to drag your eyes away from the brushes that are making the lines and spots. However, if you do so, you will notice that, with each mark, the mahout tugs at his elephant's ear. He nudges it up and down to get the animal to make a vertical line, or pulls it sideways to get a horizontal one. To encourage spots and blobs he tugs the ear forward, towards the canvas. So, very sadly, the design the elephant is making is not hers but his. There is no elephantine invention, no creativity, just slavish copying. Investigating further, after the show is over, it emerges that each of the socalled artistic animals always produces exactly the same image, time after time, day after day, and week after week.

I have always had a love and fascination for elephants and see a very human-like quality in them. I know that they are one of, if not the, most intelligent creatures on the planet but I also see them as moral to some degree but I agree with some other posters in that I found this video somewhat disturbing in that an elephant in the wild does not paint even with mud. I am grateful to the poster who added a link as to how these elephants are trained to do this; I assume that there is a line on the page that they follow but I'd really rather see them in the wild. I would not pay for an elephant painting although I would and have given money to fund for the care of orphaned elephants. We need to be very wise and shrewd where these things are concerned. The skeptic in me also immediately wondered if this video was for real or not.

The article I attached explains that the elephants are not actually drawing pictures, but they are actually drawing lines based on the tugs of their mahouts (trainers) on their ears. I still cant believe what my eyes are seeing....It's amazing...i wish my cheers mostly to the Trainer of that elephant, and next to the famous Painter(elephant)....it proves God does the Things in His Knowledge.

I was amazed at this video and the first thing I thought of was, what an amazing God we have! God can make a donkey speak, so why not give one of his beautiful creatures the talent to paint! Awesome! I was blessed watching this! Thank you!

Elephants have been hunted for their tusks and killed for sport. They have been almost eliminated from the wild. To cause the local folks to use them to make money is the only thing that will save the elephant from extinction. With a commercial use for elephants, elephants will thrive. That being said, it is amazing that this big creature can do these things. I always thought that elephants were confined to do such things as sit and walk slowly and never really thought they were very intelligent or had artistic talent. Clearly God gave them a brain too.

God, thank You, for this awareness, that all your creatures are far more than we could ever dream....thank you for raising our consciousness, so that we might be more sensitive to them.

I am beyond amazed!

I actually found this video kind of upsetting. It is so unnatural for an elephant to do this. I believe animals can be creative, especially an animal as intelligent as an elephant. But I think that this is an example of an animal being trained to do something very specific, for profit and entertainment. I pray the trainers treat these animals well.
