I really enjoyed that! God created ALL music and gave us the minds and hearts to worship with it as we choose.

If you have ever been to one of Tim's shows/concerts you would know how all of this ties in to glorify God. There is a point to every one of his songs and stories!

Wow some of you need to relax. He isn't suggesting we actually use Led Zepplin songs for worship and he isn't mocking worship or God. Some of you must think God is super uptight...yikes. God is on His throne and a little humor (of which he gave Tim a gift for) certainly isn't going to knock Him off the throne. Talk about sacred cows...

I do not care for Tim Hawkins. I think what he does is just plain stupid and not funny at all.

I don't get the "God's name in vain part". He changed the tune of the song. Ever heard of different versions of Amazing Grace? The words that he sang were actually the words glorifying God. He just changed the type of music. The melody he used was not the way we usually hear the song so that is what made it funny. We don't normally hear that song in a hard rock version. A definition of using God's name in vain would be something like...To use God's name to justify or legitimate an action that is not justified or legitimated by God. For an example making war on another country and claiming it is "God's will". Claiming God said something that he didn't. Using God to place a curse. Using God's name to elevate your own position. These are examples of blasphemy. This comedian did not do any of the things listed above not even close.

who is to know but the person and God.

  • 2012-11-13T19:29:06

I'm not sure this leads people to Jesus....

  • 2012-11-13T19:23:39

If it reaches just one person and leads them to Christ then I say JOB WELL DONE.

Its not about being self-righteous re imitations of whomever (Led Zeplin), or being funny; it is using the words of God and His name 'in vain'; to me that it what doesn't make it funny, but grievous as honour is not there.

It is hilarious! One of the most important things in life is to be able to laugh at yourself.

Hey Nova Buchanan...btw we are called "Led Heads" lol No wonder people don't want to be called Christians anymore. You all take yourselves TOO SERIOUSLY! Jesus had a sense of humor...you should too. Lighten up!

Sadly, this IS actually what passes for a lot of worship music these days...

6. “If heaven were by merit, it would never be heaven to me, for if I were in it I should say, ‘I am sure I am here by mistake; I am sure this is not my place; I have no claim to it.’ But if it be of grace and not of works, then we may walk into heaven with boldness.” ~ Charles Spurgeon.

I agree Ann! That's not "entertainment" ... it's a distraction from focussing on GOD!! xx

  • 2012-11-13T18:11:08

WOW! So many people on here saying that a number of us are being pious, self-righteous, or 'playing God! We are not claiming to be any of those things, nor are we throwing stones! We are entitled to our opinion as much as the next person! Entertainment is great in the right place.... and YES God did create the sense of humour. But He didn't create it for people to mock Him or other Christians! We don't need to 'lighten up', as so many people are saying! I love modern worship music in church, but this really isn't pleasing to God. This kind of thing doesn't help you focus on God but rather the man! If we are Christians then our focus should be on GOD and not this sort of thing that people call "entertainment"!
