Jason Singell If satan has authority over this world, then it is a good thing that I no longer belong to this world :) I am a citizen of heaven. "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ," (Philipians 3:20) "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." (John 15:19) "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you." (Luke 10:19) As such satan has no authority over me . I do not belong to this world. You could say I have diplomatic immunity. While Jesus was on earth He cast out demons who obeyed him while in satan's dominion. Jesus defeated the devil and He has graciously shared that victory with all who believe in him. If I believed the devil had any power over me then I would be allowing him to manipulate me. I believe that he is a liar and cannot touch me, because He who is in me is grater than him.

Costas Ioannou actually, we and God may have authority over satan spiritually, but the Bible makes it clear that satan has authority over the earth. For satan is the "prince of the air" and the "god of this world" according to scripture.

No worries! I can see where it could be construed in such a way when viewed through a different cultural lens- such as Greek polytheism. I had not considered looking at it in such a fashion, so thanks for helping me to see that. One of the cool things about the incarnation is that it did, I think in some respects, trip Satan up in that he thought he might be able to gain power over the God-man. But that didn't work out so well for him, eh? (Looks like we know who the winner is when Lion-in-Sheep's-Clothing battles God-in-the flesh, huh?) ;) Praise be to God the Father- We have an awesome, victorious Savior and our Redeemer lives! (Despite Satan's best efforts to the contrary...) May your life continue to proclaim that victory in Jesus name! :)

I see what you mean. It is a great video that shows Jesus love for us, I just think that we should take every chance we can get to remind ourselves of our authority over Satan. I apologize if my comments seem a little harsh. It just seemed to me as if it was portraying Satan as an equal to God, kind of like the 12 gods of Olympus where the different gods would discuss matters. I realize that this video is meant to show Jesus love, I just think that the discussion seems like it is occurring between two equals. Jesus authority over everything including Satan is clear in the Bible and I would have felt better if that authority was shown a bit clearer. Satan is a master of deception and anything that reminds us that Jesus and us have authority over him is a good thing.

I hear your concerns…but scripture is pretty clear that indeed there is an extraordinary courtroom-type interaction going on in the heavenlies that involves discussion about our futures, with Jesus Christ himself as the mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5 There is one God and One Mediator between God and man- the man Christ Jesus.) With Satan- “the accuser of our brothers… who accuses them day and night before our God” (Revelation 12:10) standing on one side arguing the case against us; and Jesus-“our great high priest who has passed through the heavens” (Hebrews 4:14), “who indeed is interceding for us” (Romans 8:34) standing and arguing the case for us on the other side. Both are passionately arguing their case before God the judge. Read Job 1 for an example of what this looks like. (P.S. Jesus wins!) :) P.P.S. AWESOME VIDEO!!

This video is misleading. Satan does not hold such a position as to sit with Jesus and debate our future. Jesus does love us more than we can ever imagine, but to place Satan next to him while they discuss this is wrong. God owes Satan no explanation. This video, although very good at showing Jesus love also gives Satan false authority. It portrays him as a somewhat equal to Jesus which is wrong.
