A graven image is an idol that is created for the purpose of worship, this was not created with that purpose in mind. God told her to sculpt what she saw in her dream/vision so that she could share the reality of Christ's suffering with others. People need to stop and actually think and contemplate on exactly how much Christ went through for us, so many people just gloss over the details and never think about how much he truly suffered for us and that I doubt any other many could have done it, that he was in training and being prepared for 30 years to suffer such a horrific chain of events that literally destroyed his body to unrecognisable state and crushed his soul with the weight of ALL sin from every human in all of history and every human that would ever be born in the future so much that even God could not look at Him. Does the pain on the statue's face not convey that kind of soul crushing pain. It is easy to get legalistic and say this is a graven image, but it only becomes that to the person who bows to it in worship, otherwise it is an expression of love inspired by God created by a human being, much like the way the Bible was written, inspired by God, written by human hands. A person who has never sculpted before doesn't wake up one day and decide to make a 16 foot statue and not only that but being committed to such a task for 10 years, it takes faith and help of God to create such a masterpiece in different pieces that then all perfectly come together, how can anyone not see the hand of God in this.

Tracy Hellene Butler Is okay to look at a statue or a sculpture, as long as you don't bow down to it or to worship and praise the statue

Still, you know what God likes and doesn't by the old testament. God never changed did he? Your like bad kids. Make up excuses. When I knew my father didnt like something I didnt do it.

It would be wrong to bow to his image but that is not what the sculpture is about. If God had not guided her, she could have never done this great work. I think it is another testimony of God's great love in these last days that may draw some to Christ. It is a great reminder of all that Jesus went thru as man and God on the cross for me ....... ..and you!

We are not under the Law of Moses which said not to make graven images, etc....on that very Cross the Ceremonial Law was abolished in the Body of Christ...see Ephesians 2, Romans 3... If this lady made a sculpture and even one person gets saved by being attracted to the Lord Jesus, then the purpose is accomplished. God can use any way He choses, even the pharisees of Jesus' time were unwilling to admit that a carpenter from Nazareth could be the Son of God...or that God could become a man as Christ did....Today we are not under the Law of Moses and all the minutest ceremonial laws and details about what you should eat or not eat, etc....Christ died to set us free from such a burden.....we are free to believe and love one another for the Law is fulfilled in Christ..

That, Tracy, is a beautiful piece of sulpture. Accept it as that if nothing else. Graven images are made to be worshipped. This sulpture is not. It is one person's vision of the crucifixion. I am delighted that I have the opportunity of seeing it and learning the story of how and why it was made. I think it is God-inspired. Congratulations to Brenda Angel who took so much time and care to bring her vision to life.

Im sorry but I have to say that is a graven image. We are told not to make graven images. Easter is a pagan holiday to obliterate the rememberance of the passover perpetrated by the catholic church which is a mixture of religion and paganism. I dont know how you could be promoting this if this is supposed to be a christian site.
