'One Angel' Rory Feek And Dolly Parton Sing Chilling Duet
Rory Feek honors his wife, Joey, five years after her passing with the beautiful words of ‘One Angel.’
For years, Rory and Joey toured as a successful country duo. In 2014, they welcomed a baby girl into their family named Indiana.
But just a few months later, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. After a hard-fought battle, Joey passed away in 2016, and the world wept. Sandy Lawrence was a longtime friend of Joey’s and struggled to process the death.
Sandy decided to channel her emotions into a song. Rory detailed the story on a recent blog post. “A year or so after Joey passed away, Sandy sent me a song in an email that just said, “...I had to get this song out of me to come to peace with the loss of my friend. I've listened to the song a hundred times since then. And I understand her feeling.”
The dominos kept falling in slow motion
Every doctor’s call and diagnostic test
I drove that hundred miles just to see you
the whole while Cussing God and the devil in one breath
It can be extremely hard to deal with the loss of a loved one. We run through all of the emotions, including anger and grief. Today, Rory is singing this personal song with the help of another country superstar, Dolly Parton.
And you’ll be fighting back the tears as you hear them belt out the heart-wrenching chorus. “'Cause I don't believe the Jesus That you love so much would put you through such pain. But I do believe one angel knows my name”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
