'O Praise The Name' Jenn Johnson Worship Performance

This ‘O Praise the Name’ Jenn Johnson worship performance has me feeling like I’m right there in the audience.

Worshiping in a room full of people is an incredible experience, but this past year we’ve been deprived of that. Videos like this one seem to almost transport me to the worship concert.

Seriously! Just play the music through a loud speaker, close your eyes, and picture yourself surrounded by God’s children. This is the perfect song for it!

Jenn Johnson is one of the co-founders of the widely-known worship group, Bethel Music. The ministry group aims to create a unified worship community across the world. That’s the wonderful thing about Christian music -- it lets us connect with people everywhere over our shared love of God.

Bethel Music was formed 20 years ago from the ministry group at the huge Bethel Church in California. The group released around 20 albums including live recorded records. A bunch of the group’s songs serves as worship anthems everywhere.

‘O Praise the Name’ was originally co-written by Marty Sampson for Hillsong Worship, another popular church ministry. David Ware, the first vocalist for the song, and Marty Sampson are members of the Australian megachurch.

The writers composed the tune as an Easter worship piece, but like many other contemporary Christian songs, it’s appropriate year-round.

The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King

As followers, we must never forget God’s sacrifice of his only Son. Because of Him, we can have eternal life. And because of Him, we have life. So, we must praise His name, forevermore.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16
