Hilarious Rendition Of 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown' On Donny And Marie Show

Well, shiver my grits. This hilarious rendition of ‘Foggy Mountain Breakdown’ on the Donny and Marie Show will have you in stitches.

Hee Haw star Roy Clark did a hilarious rendition of “Foggy Mountain Breakdown’ on the Donny and Marie Show. The old clip is resurfacing and finding a new audience with more than 49,000 views and counting. Why? Because it’s good old-fashioned television without politics and the doom-and-gloom we witness on TV these days.

After all what could be more fun to watch than a ‘rhinestone plowboy,” which is what Roy calls Donny after Donny shows off his bedazzled cowboy boots. But the fun is just beginning. Donny tries to be more ‘country’ to help Roy feel at home, and it’s both cheesy and endearing.

The silly puns are all in good fun and the stars are all clearly having a great time as they banter before introducing the song. What happens next is one of the best renditions of ‘Foggy Mountain Breakdown’ in history.

When Donny continued to crack jokes about country boys, Roy took all of his cheekiness in stride. But Marie was a little confused by her brother's peculiar behavior. She asked Donny why he was talking funny. Donny then explained he was just trying to make Roy feel more at home with his jokes about country folk. Then the fun begins as they are joined by Donny & Marie’s siblings, George Gobel, and comedian and talented flamenco guitarist Charo.

Together, the whole crew brings down the house with heat from their bluegrass style of picking! All jokes aside, the performance was jaw dropping, the comments about the performance capture it all. One viewer said, "Before computers, and cellphones, if you missed it, you missed it! Good old days!”

Another viewer said, “If it had strings on it the late Roy Clark could play it. Very talented and was truly a "super picker!”

The Donny and Marie show aired from 1976 to 1979. Donny and Marie were 18 and 16 years old when the show made its first debut on a Friday night. Each episode concluded with a music finale like this clip! Doesn’t it bring back great memories? Talk about ‘picking’ good, clean fun! This is a video you don’t want to miss!

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!” Psalm 150:1-4
