Grandmother Cleverly Turns The Tables On Would-Be Fraudsters
A grandmother in her 90s cleverly turned the tables on a would-be fraudster after receiving a phone call from one of them.
Most people have cell phones, which they use extensively. It’s not a stretch to say that for most of the population, their cell phones are essentially an extension of their hand. It’s become a must-have item for most people.
People use their cell phones to check the weather and their email and to look at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram several times every hour. Occasionally, they are used to communicate with others, most of the time through a quick text message. And even sometimes, believe it or not, phones are used to call someone.
Sadly, scammers still use the phone, making calls trying to obtain personal information or trick people out of cash. Most of the time, the elderly are the prey of these criminals, using elaborate stories to confuse and scare older men and women into inadvertently handing over large sums of money.
A clip posted on social media features a woman in her 90s, a grandmother, who received a call from someone trying to scam her. However, she did not fall into the individual’s trap. Instead, she turned things around on them, asking them personal questions about their salvation and their beliefs about the end of the world.
The call begins with the 92-year-old woman asking the person on the other end of the line whether they believe in God.
“You believe in God, don’t you?” she asks. “You believe in God?”
She said she believed she would eventually be a part of the rapture, so she did not need whatever the scammer was attempting to sell her.
The person on the other end must have gotten frustrated with the woman’s discussion of Jesus and the rapture and hung up on her. The clip ends with the woman looking down at her phone as if she lost the connection.
1 Peter 5:8 “Be serious and keep watch; the Evil One, who is against you, goes about like a lion with open mouth in search of food;”

A Prayer for Victory over Sinful Thoughts - Your Daily Prayer - July 26
Victory over sinful thoughts starts with dependence upon God to stay free from enslaving sin. It’s a life lived with a surrendered mouth and heart before God. Winning requires us to remember our Rock, who rescues us and gives us a firm standing place, and our Redeemer, who rescues us from total loss.
