Housefires - If I Could Have Anything

In the Bible, there are massive, central figures who through their faith and trust, did awesome things on behalf of God and his people. Abraham, Moses, Paul, David and even Mary and Joseph immediately come to mind. One new song is all about being completely open and available to the will of God.

The video for the new tune “If I Could Have Anything” by Housefires begins with the musicians in a living room-type setting. The musicians can be seen sitting on the furniture with even one or two of them on the floor.

Dozens of people can also be seen standing around the musicians in the video. On the heartfelt and impactful chorus the crowd joins in and lends their vocal talents.

In the first and second verses, the song makes mention of two giant characters in the Bible: Mary and David. When it comes to Mary, the song’s lyrics ask that, like her, may they remain “open to the movements of your heart.”

When it comes to David, the song’s lyrics ask that, like the Bible figure who slayed the giant Goliath, may they be “unconvinced by power or idols” and keep “worshiping in triumph and in trial.”

The lyrics in the song also point to the fact that while they may not have much to bring or give to God, they hope to remain an offering and be of use.

This song is an excellent reminder that sometimes it isn’t about what we have done or what we can do. Simply being willing to move and act when God calls is just as important.

Give this new and catchy song with an uplifting message a listen!

Proverbs 11:24 “A man may give freely, and still his wealth will be increased; and another may keep back more than is right, but only comes to be in need.”

A Prayer for Generosity toward Those in Need during Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 8

When we look at all that God has given us despite what we have done to him, it humbles us. It makes us want to give generously because he gave everything for us.
