‘Bye Bye Love’ Cover From Country/Gospel Supergroup Brothers Of The Heart
Jimmy Fortune, Bradley Walker, Ben Isaacs and Mike Rogers – the Country/Gospel/Bluegrass Supergroup known as Brothers of The Heart – gave us this CCM exclusive performance of The Everly Brothers' classic “Bye Bye Love.”
Human relationships can be tough, confusing and perplexing. Now, add a deeper layer of feelings, such as what takes place in romantic relationships, and you’ve got a situation that could keep even the most practical, level-headed person baffled.
As the old saying goes, no man is an island. People need human interaction, but when those relationships, for whatever reason, come to an end, it can be rather painful. One classic song from the 1950s goes into extreme detail about the hurt and despair over the conclusion of a romantic relationship.
The group Brothers of The Heart covers the Everly Brothers’ hit “Bye Bye Love.” Despite its upbeat tone and catchy melody, the lyrics tell a different story. In fact, the lyrics are full of despair, as the song's title indicates.
Not only has a romantic relationship ended but, to add insult to injury, the songwriter has spotted his former sweetheart out with another. Yes, the songwriter is in a bad, bad state. Their entire world is falling apart because their best gal is now their former best gal.
In the chorus, the songwriter seems to have given up on the idea of love altogether. Instead, they are resigning themselves to a life of living alone.
“Bye bye happiness
Hello loneliness
I think I’m gonna cry”
Despite the depressing lyrics, the guys do a great job playing the classic hit tune. They mimic the Everly Brothers’ sound well, blending their voices beautifully. Their country sound is another nice added touch that helps to make the song their own.
Psalm 34:18 “The lord is near to them that are of a broken heart, and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.”

Freely giving of ourselves may seem and feel at times like it’s costing us more than we can afford. But instead, it’s adding up to more than we thought was possible to receive.
