Joyce Meyer Got A Tattoo And Listen To The Reason Why - Sermon Videos

As a little girl sitting on the hip of my mama in church, I saw a woman standing in front of me with a tattoo of a unicorn on her shoulder. I immediately felt sad for her because when I told my mom how pretty it was, she told me the woman was going to hell. 

Fast forward decades later, and wouldn’t you know, my body is covered in tattoos. But like Joyce Meyer says in this video, that’s between me and the Lord. In fact, Joyce Meyer got a tattoo and listen to the reason why. 

Every tattoo I have reflects how God redeemed me, saved me, and how I belong to him. In fact, one of my tattoos, scrolled in lacy black ink on my left wrist, says, “redeemed.” I get asked often what redeemed means and each time, I tell the story of how God saved me. 

If you’re on the fence about tattoos–this is one video you don’t want to miss. Recently Joyce got not just one tattoo but two! The one on her shoulder has a cross and says, “I belong to the lord.” The other is the word love inked on her ankle as a reminder she walks in love. 

Why would a 79-year-old woman get a tattoo? Because she’s wanted one for years, and she believes nothing is left to sheer luck, fate, or coincidence. Years ago, she had read Isaiah 49:16, which says God has his children tattooed in the palm of his hands. Joyce was so moved by the countenance of God’s unwavering love for his children, and she thought she would someday get a tattoo. 

At the same time, a tattoo artist had given his life to Christ, but during his early walk, others judged him about his career choice. He had walked away from the ink parlor for some time before realizing that even though these brothers and sisters in Christ had meant well, they were judging him. 

He then realized no one’s opinions mattered more than that of his heavenly father. He had then learned Joyce wanted a tattoo and believed he would one day be the one to imprint God’s holy message of belonging to the lord upon her body. 

And wouldn’t you know it–a few weeks ago, when Joyce was preaching in Houston, a friend of a friend connected this special tattoo artist with Joyce. She finally got the tattoos she wanted through the blessed gift of tattoo artistry of this man!

Joyce went on to preach that the decisions we make, and the things we do in our lives are between God and us. It’s not between us, our neighbors, our brothers and sisters in Christ. 

God doesn’t care what other people think. He cares about our intentions and how we honor the Lord. He also cares how we carry out judgment on other people. In fact, she warned “You’re free to think what you want to but you’re not free to judge people who do what you don’t think they should do,” she said.

True Biblical holiness is about the motive behind your actions. Our job is to keep our eyes on Christ and pursue holiness through loving the Lord with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. And if it just so happens we ink our skin for the sake of honoring God–that’s between him and us. My mama still doesn’t like my tattoos, but I know my Jesus does.
