Ice Skaters Perform To Tina Turner’s Classic ‘Proud Mary’

Two immensely talented ice skaters – Olivia Smart and Adrian Diaz – practice their routine set to a classic tune from the late Tina Turner.

Ice skating is a sport with a high degree of difficulty and danger. Participants are rhythmically skating and moving about on a sheet of ice. They do this all while balancing themselves on a single sharp blade strapped to the bottom of each foot. But when done right, a figure skating routine is a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Olivia and Adrian, who participated in the 2022 Winter Olympics together, skate to “Proud Mary.” Like the classic track from Tina, Olivia and Adrian’s routine is an upbeat, up-tempo and high-octane routine.

Their routine is timed perfectly with the song. At the beginning of the track, both stand at center ice and snap along with the song’s beat before skating off together, basically dancing on the ice.

They move back and forward along the ice with incredible speed, displaying their artistry, agility and athleticism. At one point, near the 30-second mark of the nearly 3-minute clip, Adrian actually picks up Olivia, moves her around his body, and then places her on the ice while they continue moving at a high speed and without ever missing a beat.

When the song picks up, so do Olivia and Adrian!

They pick up the pace, incorporating even more dance moves and skating about in lockstep with one another. There isn’t a false step or a miscue by either one of them throughout the nearly 3-minute clip.

Their entire routine is simply beautiful and awe-inspiring.

Tina Turner, who is known for other hits such as “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” The Best” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero” passed away in late May at the age of 83.
