You can purchase this exact recording on iTunes! (search "Spem in Alium", album is "The Tallis Schlars sing Thomas Tallis) READ THIS DESCRIPTION! PLEASE COMMENT! I would like to know what more "contemporary" Christians think of this extremely old piece! This is a FORTY PART motet, which means all it is is human voices singing. amazing, isn't it? It was written in about 1570 by the phenomenal and well known English Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis- all of his music is heavenly! This song is called "Spem in Alium" Here is the text:
Latin:
Spem in alium numquam habui praeter in te
Deus Israel
qui irasceris
et propitius eris
et omnia peccata hominum in tribulatione dimittis
Domine Deus
Creator coeli et terrae
re%$$e humilitatem nostram
English Translation:
I have never put my hope in any other but in you,
O God of Israel
who can show both anger
and graciousness,
and who absolves all the sins of suffering man
Lord God,
Creator of Heaven and Earth
be mindful of our humiliation
