Calum Scott's Soulful 'Dancing On My Own' Audition Earns Golden Buzzer

Listen to Calum Scott's soulful rendition of 'Dancing On My Own' from his Britain’s Got Talent audition that earned him a golden buzzer.

“Somebody said you got a new friend, does she love you better than I can?
And there's a big black sky over my town, I know where you're at, I bet she's around
And yeah, I know it's stupid, but I just gotta see it for myself
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh, I'm right over here, why can't you see me? Oh
And I'm giving it my all, I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh, I keep dancing on my own”

Calum Scott almost quit the competition on Britain's Got Talent after his sister Jade failed to impress the judges. And he had obvious nerves after his sister’s rejection, but he stepped up to the mic and gave it his all. When he sang his version of ‘Dancing On My Own,’ everyone in that theater knew a superstar had arrived…including Simon!

After his audition, the audience and the judges were amazed by what they had just heard. And Simon decided to give Calum a golden buzzer!

“This is surreal” Calum says to Simon as he walks off stage to give him a hug.

“Amazing,” Simon responded. “I really mean that. Well done.”

When explaining his decision to send Calum Scott straight to the semi-finals, Simon Cowell said: "I've never ever in all the years I've done this show heard a guy with the talent you've got. Seriously. And the version was sensational, and that shows to me that actually, you're more than a singer, you're an artist, and that's why you got that (the buzzer)."

Calum Scott ended up placing sixth in this season of Britain’s Got Talent. He released his version of 'Dancing On My Own', which became Britain's best-selling single of summer 2016.
