In Exodus 3:13 Moses is talking with God and Moses wonders what he should say to the Israelites when they ask "What is His name?" In Exodus 3:14 God gives Moses the answer : "I AM WHO I AM, thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you." This song is about the arrival of Jesus, and through the Trinity Jesus is the great I AM.
