Laser Kitty Tooth Pull

Jan 15 2026
Jacob, the 7 year old with the loose tooth, was complaining that the tooth was being stubborn, and wasn’t coming out. Jacob didn’t like the idea of twisting it around and around. So mommy and daddy pitched the idea of Pumpkee, the orange kitty, helping the Tooth Fairy out. Little Pumpkee was to perform a speedy kitty dash chasing the red laser dot to pluck the tooth out. It was a fun and exciting alternative to other scarier methods. Mommy, who is also a dental hygienist, tied a little string around the tooth, and around kitty’s waist. Daddy set Pumpkee down and pointed the laser across the carpet and he sped off! The tooth painlessly popped out and flew across the room! Credit: Brandon Beck

What Brain Science and Faith Teach About Emotional Triggers

Jul 17 2026
Triggered Does Not Mean Truthful: Renew Your Mind Through Faith and Neuroscience A trigger can feel overwhelming, immediate, and deeply convincing. Neuroscience says it’s often your brain’s alarm system doing what it has learned to do, sounding the alert when something feels familiar to a past wound or perceived threat. The amygdala responds quickly, often before your logical brain has time to assess what’s happening. That’s why emotional reactions can feel so intense. But intensity does not always equal accuracy. Feeling rejected doesn’t mean you are rejected. Feeling unsafe doesn’t mean you are unsafe. Feeling unworthy doesn’t mean you are unworthy. Feelings are real, but they’re not always reliable. Many triggers are rooted in stored memories, past pain, or unhealed experiences. Your brain may be responding more from history than present reality. It’s trying to protect you based on what it has learned before, not necessarily what is true now. When you pause, slow down, and ask, What am I feeling, what’s actually true right now? your prefrontal cortex, begins to come back online. Your nervous system regulates. Space opens between the feeling and your response. In that space, truth has the opportunity to speak. As believers, we don’t let our emotions disciple us. We take them captive and bring them into alignment with God’s truth. 2 Corinth. 10:5. God never asks us to deny our feelings or accept every feeling as truth. So the next time you feel triggered, remind yourself: 🔹This feeling is information, not a conclusion. 🔹I can feel this without believing all of it. 🔹Truth, not emotion, gets the final word. Over time, your brain begins to rewire, learning that it doesn’t need to sound the alarm so quickly, so loudly, or so often. You’re not at the mercy of feelings; you’re anchored in truth.
