So funny. Australian churches need to do this.

These sign aren't funny--they're clichéic. Why are Christians so thin-skinned, they get upset over an abbreviation (Xmas)? Also the crack about Christmas being easier to spell than Hanukkah borders on anti-Semitism.

Think you're safe on the animal front LOL :o)

Well now you're done showing us how clever you are, how about facing the honest truth: most people who use X-mas do so because of two reasons: either they want to forget that Christ is the essential part of Christmas or they are too lazy to type it out! It really has nothing to do with Greeks using the Chi to represent Christ - they were in fear of their lives from persecution, we're not (at least in most of our countries!) Let's put Christ back where He belongs at the centre of Christmas :o)

"Whoever is praying for snow please stop" ROTFL!

  • 2012-03-30T13:15:15

who knew there were so many ways to say "merry christmas".

Loved the signs but did anyone notice the $2.25 for gas at the Sheetz? That picture must have been taken some time ago lol.

Some of them are for real. Some strange. Some funny.

Billy Hestand OK, using your own argument, Jesus insulting the Pharisees, throwing over the tables in the temple.... where was He? He was IN THE CHURCH!!! Those weren't people of the world he was insulting (which He was RIGHT in, not just cutting them down for no reason), those were the leaders of the church, doing things out of tradition and contrary to the scriptures. He NEVER cut down and insulted people who were not followers. He said things like "Has no one condemned you? Then neither do I. Go, and sin no more". The "religious" people, He said "If you really were ignorant, then you would not be sinning. But since you say you are not ignorant, your sin remains". If the churches want signs like that, put them on the inside for the people claiming to be followers of Christ, but not following his example, just like the hypocrites in Jesus' day. Jesus, the disciples, the early church.... the people that they directed harsh words at were the same type of people I'm directing my comments at. The "holier than thou" people, who put on false humility to let everyone see how reverent and spiritual they are. It's an act. People fell dead in Acts for that kind of thing. No where that I've seen (and if you know of one, let me know) did any of them speak anything other than love to people outside the church. Even people who were trying to kill them, they asked for forgiveness. I guess my main point is, there are so many things that we as Christians have legit claims about, we shouldn't be wasting time on things that aren't even accurate. I mean, people act like "X-Mas" is a new thing when it isn't. It was the church who used it first. I guess I'd just rather people using their efforts to fight for things like keeping the 10 Commandments in the court rooms rather than fighting something that was our idea in the first place, and they just don't know it.

Cannonball James Roberts Man I'm not trying to bust you on what you said so much as I'm trying to show you that there is always more to truth then what we see. I think you have a great understanding of hermeneutics and I practice the same way of interpretation of you. But I want to ask you, do you really think that these signs are violating scripture and that the person who made the signs and this video were also. of course not! For example the whole argument about X-mas and Christmas isn't the fact that we can trace it historically back to the early church but that people are doing that to be politically correct, literally putting a x through Christmas. I don't know about you but that offends me and I think we as Christians should stand up for our right to proclaim Jesus as the reason for season, because he is! The other thing is that about how we shouldn't bash others because of loving others in scripture. while there were some that could be seen that way I don't think that was the point of the signs ether. I believe that it is also scriptural to be bold in your faith just like the Apostles were and how they were not afraid of stepping on some toe's as seen in Acts. Didn't Jesus insult the Pharisee in Matthew 23 with the woe's. There are many examples in the Bible where the approach was not so lovingly to get the point across. The most dramatic would have to be Jesus in the temple over throwing the tables and wiping everyone out. This nation is so divided on dumb issues like this so much that we are missing the fact that so many people are going to hell because we are just not being bold enough and to afraid of offending someone. the truth is the sit back and wait until someone gets curious about our faith isn't working. We need to tell people plainly that they are WRONG!!! (just like you are saying here) and then you things like Apologetic to back it up. Guys like me and you can d this but we have to do it right. I'll be honest, I didn't expect this to be such a big thing ether and I'm sorry if I offended you James but it was just laid on my heart to point out another truth to the matte. You seem like a very interesting guy and I think we would probably get along very well in other circumstances. I pray that you understand that there is always another side to every defense and I would have to say that I don't think that most of these signs are doing wrong as much as they just being bold!!!

Billy Hestand wow, you apparently missed the entire point of what I was saying. I never said the sign bothers me, it's the ignorance of the people who make the signs (to stress, not the people themselves, but the ignorance is what I'm focusing on) I wasn't being legalistic, I can't stand legalism and tradition. My entire argument is people like some of those that make Christians look like fools by making a fuss about things they are ignorant of. When it comes to my personal beliefs, this is what I go on, and in this order: #1 Is it scriptural? If it's scriptural, it will have scripture, and not just half a verse pulled out of context, there will be more than 1 place. In the mouths of 2 or more witnesses let every word be established. #2 Is it historical? There will most likely be SOME sort of evidence in history supporting or confirming something. Being ignorant of history is what causes many horrible downfalls. Those ignorant of history are destined to repeat it. #3 Is it logical? This is the lowest on my priority list, because very often the things of God don't make sense, but they are still 100% true. Dipping in a filthy river does not sound like a logical cure for leprosy, but it worked for Naaman. But that's the exception. God created a natural order for things, and most things will follow this order. Life and death. Seed time and harvest. Night and day. Summer and winter. I've done this many times, examining what I believe, why I believe it, and what those beliefs are based on. Saying "My church teaches this, Grandma believes it, her grandma believed it..." Not good enough. Not going to get into a debate on specific things, but going back to the argument at hand, these signs, they violate all 3 of these criteria. Many of them are just flat out unscriptural. We were never told to ridicule people, we were told to love them, just for one example, others have been mentioned by other people. They miss it on being historically accurate, as I've pointed out. It doesn't matter how strongly you believe something if what you believe is WRONG. And finally, logic. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense will agree that making fun of and insulting the people you want to join you are BAD TACTICS! My whole reason for mentioning it in the first place wasn't to spark a debate, it was to bring light to something many people are ignorant of. Ignorance isn't a fault, it's simply not knowing. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to culinary arts. I can make a betty crocker cake from a box. But I can't make one from scratch without a step by step recipe. But this would be like me arguing with a master chef that all you need to do to make a cake is "just add water" because that's my experience. That crosses the line of ignorance into stupidity. I presented the truth about the origin of the term, the clearly biblical, Christian origin and roots. Ignorance is no longer a factor. Anyone that wants to continue arguing against it... well, it's not ignorance anymore.

If a sign bothers you that much James then I would say that you are being legalistic, contradicting everything you said. Take the plank out of your own eye before trying to do it to others brother!

My real name is Wayne Izumi, and some people say I am a "character," but I choose not to perform out of characer. . . life is not a stage. . .it is real . . . we come by here only once. What I said about Christmas, I stand on. . .as I know from personal experience that people (not all, but many) prefer not to utter/use "Christ" because it is offensive to them. . .but . . . in reality. . .Christ is offensive to people who are not of the "Book." (as most mid-easterner refer to us as). You want to try to articulate the "X" that is your God-given right. . . you have the right to decide. . . I have decided...to follow . . . the name that is offensive. Brother Cannonball James, have a wonderful New Year. . . I challenge you to find X disprove/prove X. . . God bless you, Man.

Wayne Izumi lol, not sure what you're meaning by putting my name in quotes. I'm a performer, and a lot of work I do is at festivals as a pirate, and my character name is James Roberts, but most often known by the nickname "Cannonball" or "Cannonball James"
