Are children ever punished for the sins of their parents?-Scotty Smith

We know God does not punish children for the sins of their fathers in any absolute or ultimate or permanent sense( Deuteronomy 24:16), but everyone gets everyone else's sin effects, and the children get them especially heavily if the big offenders are their parents. There is no longer any curse because of Jesus, only the cross to bear. For nonbelievers, unbelief is a cursed condition. Repentance and the faith in Jesus solve the foundational problems once and for all.
