M. Legend Brown is a self-taught filmmaker, a huge smiles comes over the rather large directors face, when asked about how he learned the craft. "I sat in the Dallas Library for two-years reading all their film books. I was up there so much the librarians would leave the books on the table for me to read everyday." say Legend. M. Legend was introduced to screenplay writing and directing by Tracy "Milkshake" Krivin. Legend decided to switch barbers and found himself walking into Krivin's shop and watching these three minute videos that Kirvin acted in, shot and edited. M. Legend had written a book titled "Why do I look like my Father." Krivin read the unpublished book and gave M. Legend a six page script he had started and asked him to extend into a feature film. After writing the feature length screenplay, he asked Legend to direct it. That is when Legend says he was bitten. They finished the film titled "Against the Grain" and they self-distributed over 10,000 copies on the street. Legend wanted to define what stories he wanted to tell so he started his own company "Poorchild Films" in 2004 with his bestfriend Eric King. They have eight films to the company credit and recently Legend has won three awards for his short film "Kissed by the Devil". The first chapter is still being written so stay tuned for what this director has to offer the world of motion pictures.
