This is one of many many of a similar design built by the Normans.
Unlike most this one has a Grim Reaper painted on the wall inside. It is said this was done (in Blood !!) by the last sole survivor of the Black Death when the entire village like many others was destroyed in the Dark Ages.
Note the massive manor house next door (that has it's own door in the wall surrounding the Church grounds) is a resent aquision of the Crown Estate and hence totally unused as the Royal Family already own countless other large houses.
