The first song made famous that was written by Charles H. Gabriel (1856-1932). He was asked to create a song for a mission celebration and this is the song he wrote. Interesting note: Charlotte G. Homer, H. A. Henry, and S. B. Jackson is some of the alias names he used on his songs. Since it is thought he wrote or composed over 7,000 songs it might make a fun review next time you pick up a hymnal to find songs with his "names".
