The Oak Ridge Boys Delightful 'Elvira' Performance On Larry's Country Diner

The Oak Ridge Boys turned in a delightful and toe-tapping performance of “Elvira” on Larry’s Country Diner.

Most musicians and bands become closely associated with one or two songs. It’s always the ones that were the biggest hits, tunes that shot to the top of the chart and have become cemented in people’s brains. That doesn’t matter if the band or musician was a one-hit wonder or had a 30, 40 or 50-year career filled with dozens of other classic songs.

To give you a better idea of the kind of song I’m talking about, it would be the one that if you went to see a band in concert and they didn’t play, you’d walk away upset. People would be slightly annoyed if The Rolling Stones didn’t play “Satisfaction” or The Eagles skipped over “Desperado.” How would fans react if Aerosmith chose not to perform “Sweet Emotion” or “Dream On?”

For The Oak Ridge Boys, that song is “Elvira.” Anyone who purchases a ticket to see The Oak Ridge Boys in concert would expect them to play it, likely saving it for their final song of the night. If they didn’t play “Elvira” at all, there would be some mighty upset Oak Ridge Boys fans.

In a clip posted on YouTube, the guys sang their top song during an appearance on Larry’s Country Diner. They sound fantastic as they give a spirited performance of their timeless tune.

Like most songs that reach such status, this one is a classic because of its simple but memorable and catchy chorus.

“Elvira

Elvira

My heart’s on fire for Elvira”

In addition to the guys' superb performance, the clip proves that “Elvira” is The Oak Ridge Boys’ most beloved song. In the opening seconds of their performance, everyone is clapping and singing along, not missing a word.

Everyone knows that chorus and song, even if you’re not an Oak Ridge Boy fan.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
