A little kindness can go a long way as one cute, adorable commercial from Lidl, an international discount grocery store chain, shows.

The Christmas season is considered by many to be the most wonderful time of year. But for others that is not the case. The holidays can serve as a painful reminder of loss, possibly creating a feeling of extreme loneliness and may even send some into a depression-like state. That’s why exhibiting a little kindness, especially around Christmastime, is so important.

A cute, tear-jerking commercial from Lidl posted on YouTube shows just how much of a difference a little unexpected kindness can make in someone’s life.

The clip begins with a cute raccoon emerging from a cardboard box with a Santa hat in its mouth. The wild animal proceeds to stand outside in the cold, wintry conditions as it watches a loving family decorate their Christmas tree. It’s clear from the raccoon’s reaction, as tears well up in its eyes, that it’s all alone and desperately longs for friendship, and a warm meal or two.

Instead of gaining entry into the house, the raccoon sadly retreats to its hollowed-out spot in a tree as it continues to gaze at the family in the house.

Then, the following morning, the lonely raccoon saves the day. He rescues a lost stuffed animal, going to great lengths to return to its rightful place and kindly puts the item under the family’s Christmas tree. However, the wild animal’s loving and caring move is not received well by every family member.

The family’s dog spots the intruder and quickly runs the raccoon outside, where it once again finds safe harbor in the tree. But the commercial does not end there.

The canine, having realized its mistake and cruelty toward the wild animal, greets the raccoon outside, who is safely nestled in the tree, with a napkin full of food. The surprisingly touching and moving commercial ends with the two animals sitting outside in the snow as they enjoy a meal together.
