Christian Couple Shares 3 Steps To Get Closer To God

A Christian couple on YouTube, Nate and Sutton, has created a video in which they mention three daily activities that will lead people to enjoy a closer relationship with God.

Everyday living is a busy and hectic experience. Most people are on the move or worrying about something or someone from the time they get up in the morning until the minute they lay their head down at night. This chaotic and rushed schedule can lead to Christians neglecting their relationship with the Creator of the universe.

However, Nate and Sutton have named three activities Christians should be engaged in daily. These tasks will result in followers of Jesus growing closer to the Lord and knowing Him better, according to the couple.

Their first suggested task involves removing oneself from the busyness that often is daily living. They say Christians should enjoy daily “quiet time” with Him.

“Jesus tells us how to pray,” Nate said. “He says go in your closet, shut the door, and that your Father, who sees you in secret, will reward you.”

The couple’s next suggested task for growing closer to the Lord is to get into the Scripture every day.

“So, every day, go into your room, get out your Bible,” Sutton said. “God gives us 24 hours in our day. The least we could do is give Him 30 minutes. So, just start by trying to read one chapter a day.”

Finally, the couple suggests that Christ's followers then apply the lessons and words from the Bible to their everyday lives. Do not simply read God's word but be “doers of the word.”

“The Pharisees were hypocrites because they knew Scripture, but they didn’t actually apply the Scripture to their lives,” Nate said. “And a scary thought is that Scripture also tells us that faith without works is dead, and that even the demons believed. So, it is very important to be doers of the word and not just hearers.”

James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
