Dennis Quaid Heartfelt 'Please Don't Give Up On Me' Performance

Actor Dennis Quaid turned in a heartfelt performance of “Please Don’t Give Up on Me,” a song in which he pleads with the Lord to keep working on him and not discard him despite his many failures and shortcomings.

No human being is perfect; very far from it. Every single person on Earth has their flaws, imperfections and failures. Living a perfect life is not possible. The Bible even mentions this as being the case. The book of Romans states that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Because of mankind’s sinful state, God’s love and forgiveness are our only hope, our only chance at eternal life. Without that, we would be lost forever and for all of eternity. However, we will still stumble and fall even after accepting Christ and allowing Him into our hearts and lives.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Dennis sings a tune in which he begs God not to give up on him despite his repeated failures. The lyrics are beautiful because they perfectly capture humanity. We’ve all made our mistakes and screwed up, but it’s only for the grace of God that he continually forgives and loves us.

“Please don’t give up on me

Even though I stumble every day

I’m lost out here in the darkness, and I need you

Help me, hold my hand, show me the way”

As humans, we will never achieve perfection and will constantly fail to live up to the example Jesus Christ set in the New Testament. But if we ask and confess, God is faithful in forgiving our every sin and transgression. It’s an astounding and confounding love, a gift we could never earn or achieve. God’s love and forgiveness are freely offered to every person.

Psalm 86:15 “But you, O Lord, are a God full of pity and forgiveness, slow to get angry, great in mercy and wisdom.”

A Prayer to Have a Servant's Heart This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 14

A willing heart sets forth a fire to see and experience Jesus, and as we know, God will use any willingness directed toward Him to grab a child of God's attention. He will use His people and all His creation to draw us nearer to Himself.
