From Stewardship 101: Some history says that when the Gauls were baptized, they preferred to keep one arm, their sword arm, out of the water. Then when they went to war, they could use their unbaptized arms wield their sword.
We let ourselves to practice a similar thing, but what we reserve from baptism is not our sword, but our finances.
