When a witness is sworn in during a trial, certain words customarily are used. By swearing an oath before God, the witness promises that his testimony will be true and not an exercise in perjury. In this passage of Scripture, as Christ defends Himself against the accusations of the Jewish leaders, He called four witnesses to His defense. Remember, we too are called to be witnesses of His true identity.
