Why did Christ say "Father Forgive them.." when he was being Crucified? He asked the Father to forgive them instead of forgiving them himself, something he certainly had the authority to. While there could be several theological explanations, Christ is known to be as the intercessor, and even here he was interceding on behalf of our sins.
