Today is Father's Day. It is a good day to talk about different images of manhood. In the last five decades, the predominant image of what it means to be a man has changed dramatically. From the machismo of the Marlboro Man to the passionate sensitivity of Alan Alda to the search for meaning in the men's movement to the misogynistic images popularized by hip hop, the measure of a man continues to change in our culture. But, in his first letter to the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul makes a case for a standard of manhood that is timeless - that is our ability and willingness to reflect God's love to those around us.
