11-year-old Blake Walker stuns with this acoustic rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah.’

The powerful song was originally released in 1984, but it wasn’t until Jeff Buckley released the song on his 1994 album, ‘Grace’ that the song really started to gain momentum.

Since that time, it’s become a worldwide phenomenon and truly cemented itself in music history. Over the years, many artists have covered the tune, which sounds like a perfect blend of a rock ballad and a gospel song.

“Well I've heard there was a secret chord

That David played and it pleased the Lord

But you don't really care for music, do you?”

Today, young Blake Walker is putting his own spin on this modern day classic. You may recognize Blake from the viral Rise Up Children’s Choir and Junior Choir. Over the years, this talented choir has performed countless covers of worship songs and contemporary hits. All of these performances have garnered millions of views online. Now, Blake is striking out on his own with a stunning acoustic rendition of ‘Hallelujah.’

“Well it goes like this

The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift

The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah”

From the arrangement to the vocals, this Leonard Cohen cover is absolutely amazing. It’s wonderful to hear such a young talent share his gift with the world. There’s no doubt that Blake is a great vocalist and I hope that we continue to hear more from this teen in the future.
