The powerful tune was penned in 1984 Bob Geldof and Midge Ure after they saw news reports about the famine in Ethiopia. The writers put together a group of some of the biggest singers and musicians, at the time, and they called themselves Band Aid. The song immediately became a hit and helped to raise money for Africa. Since that time, it’s become a staple during Christmas time.

Today, a whole new group is performing this song and they hope to achieve some of the same success while raising money for charity. The Fire Tones are a talented ensemble of firefighters from all over the United Kingdom. They recorded the iconic song in aid of The Firefighters Charity and The Band Aid Charity Trust. This is definitely a very special song and the lyrics are so powerful.
