"Create in Me a Clean Heart" is a well-known Christian song by Keith Green. Its lyrics are inspired by Psalm 51, a prayer from the book of Psalms. This hymn calls on the Lord to renew our hearts and minds with joy and love for God! Read the lyrics and biblical reference below.

Create in me a clean heart, O God!
And renew a right spirit within me. (x2)

Cast me not away from Thy presence;
And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation;
And renew a right spirit within me.

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
Thou God of my salvation.
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness,
And renew a right spirit within me.

Purge me with hyssop,
And I shall be clean.
Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation,
And renew a right spirit within me.

Create in me a clean heart, O God!
And renew a right spirit within me.
Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways,
And sinners shall be converted unto Thee
