Your Feelings are Loud but You Choose Whether Truth or Emotion Leads

Apr 19 2026
Sometimes the loudest voice in the room is your emotion. But the loudest voice isn’t always the one you should follow. When life hurts or doesn’t make sense, our feelings rush in, trying to define what’s real. We may feel afraid, so we assume we’re in danger. We may feel rejected, so we believe we are unworthy. We may feel hopeless, so we think God has forgotten us. But emotions, while real, are not always reliable. Neuroscience shows that emotions come from the limbic system, the part of the brain that reacts before we have time to reason. God invites us to live from a renewed mind, shaped by His truth, not tossed around by our emotions. When we rely on our feelings to determine what is true, we give them authority that belongs only to God. If you feel anxious, you can still declare, “God is my peace.” If you feel weak, you can still say, “His strength is made perfect in my weakness.” If you feel abandoned, you can remind yourself, “He will never leave me nor forsake me.” Our emotions make good messengers but terrible masters. God’s Word is our compass when feelings pull us in every direction.
